March Madness

I think I figured out why they call it March Madness. It's getting toward the end of winter and everyone is grumpy. Well here's to not letting it get to you.

My husband has been preparing the ground all winter long for the vegetable and flowers he's going to grow this spring. He makes me tired just watching him. Now that our yard is pretty much done he has started in on the neighbors.

He swore he wouldn’t do that again but I guess he just can’t help himself.  You can take a man away from the farm, but not the farm out of the man.

Last year he had over 100 tomato plants, onions, carrots, artichokes, strawberries, zucchini, winter squash, and peppers of all kinds.  And if he didn’t grow it he knew where to go get it either for cheap or free.

He has looked through his seed catalogues so much he know exactly where everything is, I’m surprised there’s any ink left on the pages.

I was a canning fool last year.  Making all kinds of jam and canned tomatoes, freezing corn and roasting peppers.  We still have some winter squash in the basement and onions.  And of course a ton of jelly, tomatoes, and frozen stuff.  I have a feeling I’ll get hit hard again this year.

Even though he says he’s going to cut back, I’ll believe it when I see it.

I can’t wait until spring, except for the water bill.  When the gas bill goes down the water bill makes up for it. I guess it’s all worth it in the end.

Fresh is the best.

Well until next month I hope everyone is well, and try not to get the MADNESS.
